History of Bolens Tractors

A variety of garden and vegetable garden equipment is produced under the Bolens trademark. These are motor cultivators, lawn mowers, brushcutters. The company is part of the German MTD concern. Bolens brand equipment is characterized by high product quality, low cost compared to more popular brands, multifunctionality and the ability to integrate attachments. Good energy efficiency and high performance figures also help the brand maintain a good reputation. The positive characteristics of the company include the availability of service, excellent warranty and post-warranty maintenance of equipment through a developed dealer network.

At the dawn of its activity, Bolens was engaged in the production of iron chairs and hand garden tools. It was a joint venture between two owners, Gibson and Bolens, organized in 1850 in Port Washington, Wisconsin, USA. The founders parted ways in 1914 when Gilson sold his share of the venture to a partner and went into another business. Bohlens set about developing the campaign in a targeted manner, concentrating all his efforts on garden equipment. In particular, at that moment he was interested in the first garden tractor, which had been in development since 1984. His plans came true in 1919, a garden tractor was created in the amount of 7000 copies and was successfully sold to satisfied customers. Probably, this year should be considered a breakthrough for the company and the first serious step towards world fame. Later, in 1947, the company released the first compact tractor, and in 1961, a mini-tractor called Bolens Husky 600, which became the benchmark in the environment of mini tractors, and according to the model of which other manufacturers began to make their own mini-tractors. In 1963, the company made another breakthrough in the market for garden equipment. A new generation Estate Keeper mini-tractor was released, which was well ahead of its time and was a real innovation of that period. The company entered the MTD concern in 2001. Consolidation under the banner of such a powerful organization helped the company to enter new sales markets and expand production capacity.

More than 160 years of development of the Bohlens company have made this brand synonymous with quality, laconic design and high reliability. The experience of several generations and a large resource invested in research work have led to the results that the company has now.
