History of Bolens Tractors

The Bolens brand stands as a beacon in the realm of garden and vegetable garden equipment, boasting a diverse lineup of motor cultivators, lawn mowers, and brushcutters. As an integral part of the German MTD concern, Bolens equipment distinguishes itself through a fusion of high product quality, cost-effectiveness relative to more popular brands, multifunctionality, and the seamless integration of attachments. Its solid reputation is further bolstered by commendable energy efficiency and impressive performance metrics.

Bolens takes pride in providing not only top-notch products but also an extensive support system. The brand offers accessible service, coupled with excellent warranty and post-warranty maintenance facilitated through a well-developed dealer network.

The roots of Bolens trace back to its inception in 1850, in Port Washington, Wisconsin, USA, where it initially focused on the production of iron chairs and hand garden tools. Established as a joint venture between Gibson and Bolens, the company took a transformative turn in 1914 when Gilson parted ways, leaving Bolens to chart a dedicated course in garden equipment. Notably, in 1919, Bolens achieved a milestone by introducing the first garden tractor, producing 7, 000 units that garnered satisfaction among customers. This pivotal year marked a breakthrough for the company, setting the stage for global recognition.

In subsequent years, Bolens continued to innovate. In 1947, the company released its inaugural compact tractor, followed by the introduction of the Bolens Husky 600 mini-tractor in 1961, a benchmark in the mini-tractor landscape that inspired other manufacturers. The year 1963 witnessed another groundbreaking release—the Estate Keeper mini-tractor—a technological marvel ahead of its time, solidifying Bolens' position as an industry innovator.

In 2001, Bolens joined forces with the MTD concern, a strategic move that propelled the company into new sales markets and expanded its production capacity.

With over 160 years of evolution, the Bolens brand has become synonymous with quality, minimalist design, and unwavering reliability. The company's enduring success is a testament to the cumulative experience of multiple generations and substantial investments in research and development, resulting in the formidable position it holds in the industry today.
