History of Hitachi Excavator

Hitachi Corporation is rightfully considered one of the leaders in the world market of special equipment. The Japanese brand offers a wide range of different machines designed for use in construction, industry and other industries. The first bucket excavator of this company was introduced in the middle of the 20th century. In 1970, a specialized division (Hitachi Construction Machinery) appeared in the corporation, the key focus of which was the production of heavy construction equipment.

In the 80s, the corporation began to cooperate with the American company John Deere, which allowed the brand to enter the American market. This is where Hitachi products have become very popular. Currently, the corporation includes over 30 enterprises located outside of Japan. Moreover, it is the excavators that make up a significant part of the profit and are popular. In addition to wheeled vehicles, the brand offers tracked models, so that the consumer can choose the modification that is most convenient for him.

 

Description and features

The machine has a large tracked base, which just provided high stability when working on loose and viscous soils. As standard, the excavator is equipped with a large-volume digging bucket, which allows you to get work done in a short time. The main part of the Hitachi 240 design is the central X-shaped beam. In the latest modified version of this excavator, the manufacturer has refined its design, as a result of which the strength has been increased by 35 percent. The beam has plates at the top and bottom. Each plate is a monolithic channel. It is worth noting that previously welded plates were used, but their replacement with channels had a positive effect on the overall carrying capacity of the equipment and reliability.

If we compare this model with the previous ones, then this one came out more reinforced, which made it possible to perform any work in rather difficult conditions. Japanese engineers applied several advanced solutions to the design of the excavator. The side steps of the track protection have been additionally reinforced, and there is also an increased protection for the front section of the boom, consisting of plates made of high-strength steel. In order to ensure maximum wear resistance and low noise level, rubber base plates have been used.

The excavator cab is equipped with a comfortable operator's seat, which can be fully adjusted if necessary. The seat has adjustable armrests and a seat belt. The interior of the cab provides for the installation of an on-board computer, radio and air conditioning. These additions also have a positive effect on the operator's comfort when doing work for quite some time. The working equipment of the equipment is controlled by means of joysticks, which is characteristic of almost all modern models. Increased cab sealing prevents dust and other small particles from entering the cabin. In order to reduce the level of vibrations arising in the work, the manufacturer used here elastic supports containing silicon inside. Also, a liquid crystal display is installed in the cab, through which the operator can monitor and control the technical parameters of the excavator.

 

Thanks to the special design of the windows and the large glazing area, the operator has a fairly wide view of the working area. The hydraulic levers have a short stroke so the operator does not have to do a lot of work during the work process.

When servicing the excavator, the operating personnel will not have any difficulties, since the design of the machine allows you to get close to all the necessary components and mechanisms.

The manufacturer has equipped the excavator with a modern engine speed control system that can be adjusted in real time. This function allows you to increase fuel economy if there are no heavy loads in the work, but also through it you can increase the productivity of the equipment, however, the fuel consumption will be increased in this case. The fan of the power plant has curved blades, due to which the air resistance, as well as the noise of the air flow, was significantly reduced. The Hitachi 240 came out as a fairly environmentally friendly model, since the level of toxic emissions into the atmosphere is very low, due to the improved exhaust system.
