History of Shibaura Tractors

SHIBAURA was founded in 1950 by two companies, Toshiba (Tokyo-Shibaura-Engineering) and IHI (Ishikawajima Harima Industries). The company originally manufactured diesel engines. In 1961, the production of tractors was organized. At the moment, production is deployed at four factories - Matsumoto, Okayama, Ashikage, Tokyo. SHIBAURA is now wholly owned by the IHI Group, a leading Japanese company in the fields of aviation, jet engines, power plants, industrial machinery and shipbuilding.
