History of Valtra Tractors
The history of Valtra agricultural equipment dates back to 1945. Then many manufacturers of weapons and spare parts for aircraft were forced to redo production for the production of equipment that was relevant at that time. This was the beginning of the development of the Valtra brand.
A plant for the manufacture of agricultural equipment opened in 1951. The first brainchild was the Valmet 20 tractor model. The start of sales was so successful that a year later, 75 models saw the light, and by 1954 the number of machines produced reached 2,000 thousand.
Very soon, another important event happened - the brand began its cooperation with the Swedish company Volvo BM, which specialized in the production of machines for transporting and loading soil. The merger of the two large-scale organizations took place in 1979. In the Volvo BM Valmet format, the tandem lasted 5 years, starting in 82, when Volvo BM transferred its share of the assets to a tractor manufacturer.
In 1997, the brand name was changed to Valtra. Then a number of significant events took place, in particular, a proposal for cooperation with AGCO was accepted.
